Yellow Star Stud is situated approximately 12 km outside the village of Mooi River, the hub of Thoroughbred breeding in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

The farm is 470 hectares in extent on which we produce our own hay for both bedding and horse consumption and sale. Apart from the 90 odd mares we have, with followers, the farm boosts of a small Stud Angus herd of 60 head. We have large ‘veld’ camps (natural grass) and many kikuyu paddocks. Green winter feed is planted annually, either oats or rye grass. Barren and maiden mares are the first to indulge each year come on well.

On the farm we have 100 stables all told including a mare foaling barn of 12 stables and a racing yard of 24 boxes. We have a number of training tracks, both grass and sand where Johannesburg based trainer Chris Erasmus runs his satellite yard.
